Ruta del ferro | iron route
Across Andorra, you will find large iron structures and sculptures. But it was not until we visited the iron route or “Ruta del Ferro” that I realized the significance of the iron. So I guess between the 17-19th centuries, Andorra mined and traded iron. On the Ruta del Ferro, we found an iron sculpture yard, placed amongst the fields for people and cows viewing pleasure, which honors people from across the globe who worked in the Iron industry.
During our tour through the iron route I was thinking about this poem by Rudyard Kipling that A frequently references.
"Gold is for the mistress–silver for the maid"–
Copper for the craftsman cunning at his trade!"
"Good!" said the Baron, sitting in his hall,
"But Iron–Cold Iron–is master of them all."
